What Happens Now? | The Next Step...

It's nearly five months since we announced our suspension of all Grange Players activities due to the Coronavirus lockdown so with schools scheduled to reopen in September, what happens now?

It's around about this time that the Junior group should be celebrating another successful production before settling down for the Summer Holidays and we begin planning for the February pantomime.

Well, we have some bad news and some good news!

First, the bad news: It is highly unlikely we will be able to put on a pantomime in February 2021. The current social distancing restrictions and [RULES REGARDING STAGE PERFORMANCE] presently make rehearsals impractical as they regularly involve the entire group - both adults and juniors - to practice on stage. We're not sure yet how far into 2021 these restrictions will be maintained.

But there is good news! We're not giving up just yet and the management committee has recently discussed some potential, social distance friendly alternatives that may work for the group!

We are a little spoilt, technologically speaking as HD video production is becoming more accessible to the consumer, not to mention popular video hosting platforms like YouTube and Vimeo!

We may not be able to put on a panto but we could record short sketches and post them to our YouTube channel for everyone to watch.

Our new and returning members are invited to come up with and write a short piece based on anything they like, (within reason - we are a family-friendly group). It could be on your own with a monologue or song, or a short sketch with a group of up to three people.

If this is of interest to you and would like to return or join as a new member, then please feel free to contact us, we'd love to hear from you.

We're also looking for volunteers to help run the junior group once we're back up and running again.

If you have experience in drama and working with children, and would like to take up the challenge of guiding our junior group through rehearsals and building their self-confidence then you're just the person we're looking for! Send us a message if you're interested in joining us.
